As RDN Clara Lawson explains, “There is a strong correlation between higher fiber intake and lower body weight. This is because the body needs more time to digest fiber. Berries are among the best high-fiber fruits out there, and they make a great addition to many dishes. You can add it to yogurt or oatmeal, bake it into a delicious dessert, or even eat it as a nutritious snack! And when it comes to the best berry around, Richter says raspberries are a great choice. “Raspberries are some of the highest fiber fruits out there,” he told us. In fact, just one cup of this delicious fruit can pack in 8 grams of fiber, which, as Richter points out, is “nearly 30% of your fiber needs for the day.” Perfect! We’ll add it to almost anything.

2. Apple

You know how they say ‘an apple a day keeps the doctor away?’ Although we can’t promise it’s completely true, we can say that eating apples regularly is the best way to meet your daily fiber needs and lose weight. “An apple contains about 4 grams of fiber that can boost metabolism and prevent overeating by keeping you full,” Richard told us, adding that this powerful fruit can also “provide a second way to speed up your metabolism through the thermogenic effect of food. ” What does that mean, exactly? He breaks it down for us: “This is where the body increases its calorie-burning potential based solely on food.” This means that you will not only get a good amount of fiber, but you will also be able to make your workout more important!

3. Bananas

Bananas are another great, high-fiber fruit that can help you reach your goals. They are versatile, nutritious, and not to mention delicious. Making these foods a part of your diet is one good way to keep your digestive health on track as well as slimming down. “Eating two bananas regularly in your breakfast is highly recommended after 2 glasses of water,” Lawson confirms. However, if weight loss is what you’re after, he says that sticking to bananas that are slightly green is your best bet. “Unripe green bananas may be more beneficial for weight loss because they have resistant starch, which is a carbohydrate that is not easily digested,” he said.
