Benevis Supports Jackson Community in Crisis with Safe

JACKSON, Miss., Sept. 20, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Sunnybrook Dentistry & Braces, a Benevis Kids First family dental practice with two locations in Jackson, Mississippi, has continued to safely serve the Jackson community throughout the region and supports water crisis.

Both Sunnybrook Dentistry & Braces locations in Jackson remained open and continued to provide safe dental care to the community during the water emergency. The water used by Sunnybrook Dentistry & Braces for dental exams and treatments meets or exceeds water quality standards in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines. While city water remained unsafe for consumption, Sunnybrook Dentistry & Braces used only purified distilled water from a closed bottle system. Dental waterlines are equipped with waterline cartridges that provide safe, compliant water cleaning of the dental unit.

“With the Jackson water crisis lasting over 7 weeks, it remained critical to maintain excellent safety standards while we continue to address the oral health needs of the community,” said Dr. Dale Mayfield, Benevis Chief Dental Officer. “Strong quality assurance and support systems from being part of Benevis have allowed the Sunnybrook Dentistry & Braces practices to remain open and continue to provide dental care to our valued patients in the community.”

In addition to ensuring the community continued access to quality dental care, Benevis and Sunnybrook Dentistry & Braces donated $2,500 and 1,500 sets of toothbrushes to the Jackson Free Clinic at 925 Martin Luther King Drive. Local office teams were also supported when Benevis sent out pallets of bottled water to ensure employees had safe drinking water throughout the workday and could take it home for personal use.

“We are proud to continue serving the dental health needs of our Jackson community as we have for 15 years, and we wanted to do our part to help local residents and our employees. We hope we brought some relief to our fellow Jackson residents by providing supplies, financial support and a safe place for basic dental care,” said Benevis CEO Bryan Carey. “We are pleased that the water supply has been restored and we look forward to many more years of service to the community.”
