Headspace Health Expands Mental Healthcare Services to International Markets

The company is adding on-demand behavioral health, therapy and EAP services to its meditation and mindfulness offering for employers based outside the US, starting in the UK

The pandemic and global economic pressures have exacerbated the mental health crisis worldwide with employees increasingly seeking support from their employers. A recent UK Corporate Mental Health Benchmark Report by CCLA found that 93 out of 100 companies assessed recognized mental health in the workplace as an important business issue. While supporting employee mental health is an increasingly important topic on company agendas, more work is needed in this area to bring about real change. A recent Headspace Health study found that one in three British workers feel their employer is not doing enough to support their mental health, with more than half (63%) admitting to missing at least one day of work in a 12-month period due to stress. , anxiety or other mental health challenges.

  • Self-directed care: On-demand, self-guided activities through the Headspace app to build proactive skills and improve everyday well-being. Employees can access more than 1,000 hours of mindfulness content from evidence-based meditations, eye-opening exercises such as mindful walks and runs, breathing and calming exercises, focusing music, sleep content and more.

  • Behavioral Health Coach: Unlimited 24/7 access to Headspace Health’s team of highly trained behavioral coaches to build coping skills and manage everyday stressors related to general well-being, work, family and relationships, among others. Coaching is delivered via text with a market-leading response time – within two minutes – so employees can access the support they need in real time.

  • Therapy: High-quality clinical care provided via video, telephone or in person by licensed therapists trained in a range of clinical specialties and evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Employees can request a therapist based on their personal preferences after seeking clinical support.

  • EAP services: In addition to the above framework, a dedicated EAP account specialist can ensure that employees have access to support on issues ranging from elder and child care to financial and legal support.
