5 tips to tighten loose skin after weight loss

Try these suggestions from Dr. Batra:

1. Massage the skin

This Ayurvedic practice is a wonderful way to heal the skin and connect the whole body. Make it a morning ritual to massage your body from head to toe. It is claimed that the oil not only hydrates and nourishes the skin but also helps to get rid of toxins released by the skin while you sleep. Toxins are flushed from your skin when you wash or cleanse with oil.

3. Eat a balanced diet

Cutting out junk food, sugar and processed food, as well as limiting alcohol consumption, is just one important step. Fill your diet with plenty of fiber and protein to keep your body healthy and your skin elastic.

Choose foods rich in vitamin C, zinc, and selenium, which help the body produce elastin and collagen. Start buying a group of cruciferous vegetables, green leafy vegetables, citrus fruits, and bell peppers. Also, don’t forget to get antioxidants from green tea, berries, and the occasional dark chocolate.

4. Non-surgical skin augmentation procedures

Although the effects of nonsurgical skin tightening procedures are usually subtle, they may be beneficial if you only have a mild case of loose skin. Most nonsurgical procedures are safe, but you should consult your doctor and do your research on the therapist who performs any treatment. Ultrasound, laser treatment, and non-surgical radiofrequency are some of the non-surgical techniques that can help with loose skin.

5. Build muscle

By concentrating on strength training as part of your fitness program, you can replace the fat that once filled your skin with lean mass.

If you’re doing a lot of cardio, it’s possible that your skin is getting thicker from losing weight without doing strength training on the side. However, strength training can help tone and tighten the underlying muscles and, as a result, the skin, especially if you focus on specific areas that need tightening.

Adults should do strength training exercises that target all major muscle groups at least twice a week, in addition to cardio.
