For years, the tabloids have been playing the guessing game about potential babies and conspiracies surrounding the divorce, but Jennifer Aniston is finally taking the narrative into her own hands. “At [world] create an untrue narrative, so I might as well tell the truth. I’m like coming out of hibernation. I have nothing to hide,” she told Allure for its cover story.
Turns out, during the years of rumors about whether or not she would have children, she would go through IVF, drink Chinese tea, “you name it.” She was actively trying to get pregnant and “thrown it all away.” While on the “baby-making road,” she wants to keep that part of her life private. “Because I feel like there’s very little I can see.” Now in his 50s, he has changed his mind.
Sick of others writing his story for him, he decides to deal with the rumors that hurt him. “God forbid women succeed and have no children,” she said. Want to refer to other lies about her: “The reason my husband left me, why we broke up and ended our marriage, because I will not give him a child. It is an absolute lie.”
But the advice he wishes he had received? “I would give anything if someone said to me, ‘Freeze your eggs. You just don’t think. So here I am now.’ Egg freezing, or egg cryopreservation, is a form of fertility preservation. Frozen eggs never expire, so it is often recommended that they be done in your 20s or early 30s.
But now Aniston says, “I have no regrets,” adding, “I’m actually relieved now that it’s no longer, ‘Could it be? Maybe. Maybe. Maybe.’ I don’t have to think about that anymore.” He continued, “The ship has sailed.” And now, after “a few years of protecting the story of IVF,” he said, “I have nothing to hide at this point.”
The “Friends” star has been seeing a therapist to deal with some “long-standing” healing, especially from her childhood. “I’m a very independent person,” he said, adding that intimacy was always absent from him. “I think I’ve gone through a challenging time and come back into the light,” Aniston said.
And he likes to do his job. “I’ve realized you’ll always be working on things. I’m a constant work in progress. Thank God. How uninteresting is life if we all get enlightenment and that’s it?”
