Mental Health – Challenging the Stigma in the Workplace

course description: As workers and union activists, we face economic, social and political changes in our workplaces that impact our mental well-being on a daily basis. We all react differently to situations that affect our lives and thus our mental health. This introductory course looks at mental health, mental health issues and stigma in the workplace. Some of the topics covered in this course include: demystifying mental health; responsibilities of individuals, unions and employers; problems from member to member; and some strategies to combat stigma and promote inclusion.

Dealing with conflicts in the workplace

course description: Every day in our lives we have to deal with conflicts. This course will help you gain the skills, knowledge and confidence to effectively manage conflict situations in your workplace and union. Building on previous steward training participants may have completed, this course will help you identify conflict situations, understand the impact of unaddressed conflict in the workplace, and develop strategies for managing conflict in the workplace.

Navigating the Roberts Rules of Order (ONLY 1 evening)

course description: What are Roberts Rules of Order (RRO), how is RRO used at conventions and how is it used to conduct inclusive meetings? These are some of the questions covered in the 3-hour online Robert’s Rules of Order course. Participants will be introduced to the core rules of the Roberts Rules of Order and the modifications used by OPSEU/SEFPO. You will also be given the option to use these guidelines when conducting a meeting of your own. Finally, participants will learn how to use Robert’s Rules of Order to encourage diverse interactions in their natives. By the end of the course, participants will have a better understanding of the basics of the Roberts Rules of Order, the OPSEU/SEFPO Amendments to the Rules, will recognize the difference between a Motion and a Resolution and will understand what a Constitutional Amendment is. This course includes a variety of resource materials.
