There was plenty of expensive couture and ultra-luxe glamor at the 2022 Emmys (I’m looking at you, Reese Witherspoon and your 210 carat Tiffany jewelry), but Kerry Washington proved she could rock the red carpet with some gorgeous, glowing skin can prepare The most important drugstore favorites. Washington complemented her stunning one-shoulder Elie Saab gown with a glowing complexion created with a little help from a trio of Neutrogena products (the actress is the skincare company’s brand ambassador). “I wanted her makeup to be natural, bright, and with soft tones,” Washington’s longtime makeup artist Carola Gonzalez said in a statement. “The dress gave me royal vibes and I wanted Kerry to look timeless. I wanted to complement the femininity of the dress.”
To achieve the look, Gonzalez used two face gym sculpting tools on the scandal Actress for depuffing, contouring and lymphatic drainage, she explained. Once the skin was primed, Gonzalez used Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost Water Gel to “plump, hydrate and lock in moisture into the skin for a radiant glow,” she shared. As the name suggests, this lightweight, oil-free moisturizer contains hyaluronic acid, the skincare stars. The ingredient is a sugar-based ultra-hydrating molecule that attracts and locks in water, said Purvisha Patel, MD, board-certified dermatologist and founder of Visha Skincare, previously shape.
Gonzalez then applied the brand’s Rapid Wrinkle Repair Eye Cream, which it said targets fine lines and dark circles near the delicate eye area. In addition to the already mentioned hyaluronic acid, this dermatologist-approved eye cream contains a special retinol that is particularly gentle on sensitive skin, so that there is no itching or irritation here. Instead, skin feels and looks soft, smooth and radiant.
The makeup artist rounded out Washington’s skincare trifecta by prepping her skin for makeup with Neutrogena’s Glow Primer Serum. It’s another Hyaluronic Acid-enriched product with a non-greasy formula that offers a smooth, luminous canvas and ensures makeup lasts for hours – a must-have whether you’re faced with flashing lights on the red carpet or just plain spend the day in an office.
