Czechia made a big splash at the 2022 tournament, beating the USA in the quarterfinals and playing in the bronze medal game. The group wants to do something similar in 2023.
The Czech team is one of the deepest teams in the tournament. It’s one of the best defensive cores led by Blue Jackets prospects David Jiracek and Stanislav Swocil. The team also has one of the top scorers this summer in Jiri Kilic, the Sabers’ 2022 first-round pick.
No one cares about Czechia anymore. After defeating Canada in its group opener, Czechia won Group A, the most points of any team in the preliminary round with 10 points. The team’s lone loss came in overtime against Sweden.
Now, Czechia have their eyes on returning to the podium with a semi-final against Sweden. He has not won a World Juniors medal since 2005 when he won bronze. Czechia haven’t taken home World Juniors gold since 2001, but the team is a real threat to win the title at this tournament.
